Thanks for joining me for another in an occasional series called Things I Love. Last time I told you about my love of pencils. This time, as I’m sure you can tell from the title, I’m going to be discussing some of my favorite notebooks.

Why notebooks, you may ask? Maybe because I came of age when computers were also coming of age or I just like the tactile sensations I get from using analog tools like pencils and paper? Or maybe it’s something else? I don’t think it really matter why, actually.

The truth is, I just like them. I prefer writing things down with a pencil or pen in a sturdy notebook. Ideas. Lists. Notes. Potential article topics. Beginnings of novels or short stories. Whatever. Pretty much anything I think about I’ll write down if I want to remember it later.

That’s really the key. I want to remember these things later, especially if I can’t do anything with them at the moment. If I don’t write them down, I probably won’t remember. Not that they’re all winners, these ideas, notes and such, but I’d still like to remember them . . . just in case. Plus, if I make a list of things to do or get at the store, it helps to have the list when you’re shopping or need to, you know, do those things. So, notebooks.

With that out of the way, let’s get on to my favorites.
